Mass shooting in Kyiv

The Ukrainian capital was rocked by a rare mass shooting on Saturday when a gunman armed with an automatic weapon attacked civilians before taking hostages in a supermarket.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the attacker has been 'eliminated' and expressed condolences to the families of the victims, who include a 12-year-old boy.

Security forces stormed the building after a hostage was killed, ending a 40-minute standoff that has shocked the wartime city.

Investigators are currently examining whether the attack was directed by Russia or if other motives were involved in the tragedy.
