Hantavirus found in NW rodents

A shocking number of rodents in the Pacific Northwest have tested positive for the Sin Nombre variant of hantavirus, according to health officials.

While the virus can be spread from rodents to humans, there is currently no evidence of person-to-person transmission.

Researchers at Washington State University found that nearly one in three rodents in some areas may be carriers.

Officials are urging residents to take precautions when cleaning areas where rodents may have nested.
