Eddie Murphy receives AFI award

Murphy, whose career spans nearly 50 years, received a standing ovation as he accepted the American Film Institute's highest honor.

Jennifer Hudson performed a musical tribute from 'Dreamgirls,' the film that earned Murphy an Academy Award nomination.

The ceremony also highlighted his iconic roles in 'Beverly Hills Cop,' 'The Nutty Professor,' and 'Shrek.' The tribute special is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on May 31.
