Hormuz blockade chokes global energy

Hormuz blockade chokes global energy

The conflict between the United States and Iran has entered a damaging new phase following the seizure of several European-owned container ships by the Revolutionary Guard.

Despite President Donald Trump’s unilateral extension of a fragile ceasefire, Tehran maintains that reopening the strategic waterway is impossible while the U.S. Navy continues to blockade Iranian ports.

This maritime standoff has effectively paralyzed one-fifth of global oil consumption, sending shockwaves through international markets and disrupting supply chains from East Asia to Europe.

Analysts warn that clearing the waterway of GPS-positioned mines could take up to six months, even if a diplomatic breakthrough is achieved.
