Under the updated standards, sugary treats such as ice cream, waffles, and doughnuts will be limited to once a week.
Schools will also be required to provide more vegetables and whole grains to ensure a healthier 'restaurant experience' at home.
The shake-up is the first update to school food rules in 13 years and has received backing from celebrity chef Jamie Oliver.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to promote the plans during a visit to Greater Manchester on Monday.
