United Airlines Slashes Revenue Forecast

The economic fallout from the conflict in the Middle East is hitting the global airline sector with unexpected force.

United Airlines reported that its fuel bill increased by $340 million in the last quarter alone, forcing a tactical adjustment to its financial strategy.

Other major carriers, including Lufthansa and Alaska Air, have also announced flight cancellations and fuel surcharges as global supplies of middle distillates remain tight.

While demand for travel remains strong, industry experts warn that the era of low-cost airfare may be coming to an end as airlines pass these escalating costs on to passengers.
