Cannes buzz for 'Hope' and 'Fjord'

The 79th Cannes Film Festival has been electrified by the world premieres of Na Hong-jin's sci-fi thriller 'Hope' and Cristian Mungiu's social drama 'Fjord.' Both films received lengthy standing ovations and have emerged as early frontrunners for the prestigious Palme d'Or. 'Fjord,' starring Sebastian Stan and Renate Reinsve, offers a harrowing look at a family's struggle with the Norwegian child protection system, while 'Hope' marks a bold return to the festival for Na Hong-jin after a decade.

Arthouse darling Nicolas Winding Refn also made a striking return to cinema with the trippy 'Her Private Hell,' which received a 12-minute ovation.
