EU Unblocks €90bn Ukraine Loan

EU Unblocks €90bn Ukraine Loan

The release of the badly needed funds comes after the electoral defeat of Viktor Orban's pro-Russian government in Hungary earlier this month.

Unlike previous assistance packages, the latest €90 billion loan is heavily weighted toward military spending to bolster Kyiv's frontline position.

EU leaders are also discussing new sanctions against Moscow as the war enters its fifth year.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is attending the summit in person to celebrate the release of the funds and push for further integration with the bloc.
