Lyrid Meteor Shower Peaks

Lyrid Meteor Shower Peaks

The Lyrid meteor shower, which has been observed for nearly 3,000 years, is caused by debris from the Comet Thatcher.

Astronomers recommend finding a dark location away from city lights for the best viewing experience, particularly after midnight when the radiant point is highest.

While the half-moon may provide some light interference, the occasional bright 'fireball' meteor is still expected to be visible.

The display will continue at a lower intensity until April 26.
