U.S. Navy seizes Iranian ship

The U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyer USS Spruance intercepted the Iranian container ship Touska after it allegedly ignored warnings and attempted to bypass a naval blockade of Iranian ports.

Helicopter-borne Marines took full custody of the vessel, marking the first such seizure since the blockade was implemented.

This military escalation comes just as a fragile ceasefire is set to expire, creating a diplomatic deadlock between Washington and Tehran.

While President Trump has ordered negotiators to Islamabad, Iranian officials have signaled they may boycott the talks in response to the seizure.
