Commander Reid Wiseman and his crew of three are nearly halfway to their destination, capturing high-resolution photos that show the planet's 'brilliant blue beauty.' The mission is set to break the all-time human distance record from Earth, previously held by the Apollo 13 crew.

Despite the historic nature of the trip, the crew has faced minor technical hurdles, including a brief glitch with Microsoft Outlook and a faulty toilet.

Scientists are guiding the astronauts on specific lunar features to photograph as they approach the moon's far side.
