Cargo ships attacked near Hormuz

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported attacks on two commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz within an eight-hour window.

One tanker was struck by unknown projectiles, while another bulk carrier reported being harassed by multiple small craft near the Iranian coast.

The attacks coincide with the start of 'Project Freedom,' a U.S. military operation to escort neutral ships through the waterway.

Iran has warned that any unauthorized transit through the strait will be met with force, heightening fears of a direct military escalation.
