Soldier arrested for Maduro bets

U.S. Army Master Sergeant Gannon Ken Van Dyke has been arrested for allegedly using classified information to profit from bets on the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

Van Dyke is accused of winning over $400,000 on the prediction market platform Polymarket after opening an account just weeks before the operation.

The case has fueled a push in Congress to regulate prediction markets and ban federal officials from trading on them.

Van Dyke took part in the planning and execution of the January raid before allegedly placing the illicit trades.
