March Madness expands to 76 teams

The NCAA has officially approved the expansion of its men's and women's March Madness tournaments to 76 teams each, starting next season.

The move will add eight more teams to each field and drop more early-round games into the first week of the tournament.

While the decision is expected to generate significant additional revenue, some coaches have warned that it could make the regular season 'meaningless.' Critics argue that the expansion trades competitive integrity for financial gain, potentially diluting the quality of the most cherished event in college sports.

Proponents, however, say it offers more opportunities for deserving teams and will broaden the tournament's national appeal.
