EU close to €90bn Ukraine loan

The long-awaited funding package is intended to support Ukraine's military and financial needs for the next two years.

Hungary's outgoing Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had previously blocked the loan, linking his approval to the resumption of Russian oil supplies via Ukraine.

With the Druzhba pipeline ready to restart operations, diplomats believe the final obstacles to the loan have been removed.

The announcement comes as President Zelenskyy prepares to attend an EU summit to finalize the agreement and secure the much-needed support for his country's war-ravaged economy.
