Nigeria's Insecurity Crisis

Nigeria is grappling with a severe insecurity crisis, with nationwide protests erupting after schoolchildren were abducted in Oyo State.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has declared a three-day national mourning period and demanded a state of emergency.

Kwara North stakeholders allege over 1,200 residents have been killed in bandit attacks since 2023, urging President Tinubu to address the escalating violence.

The police, however, deny reports of student kidnappings in Imo schools and clarify that 38 Ivorians arrested in Ogun were not bandits, highlighting the complex nature of the crisis.
