EU Rules Against Hungary's LGBTQ Law

The landmark judgment sets up an immediate challenge for Hungary's incoming Prime Minister, Péter Magyar, who recently ended Viktor Orbán's 16-year rule.

The law, which banned the portrayal of homosexuality to minors and restricted Pride marches, was challenged by the European Commission and 16 member states.

The court's decision emphasizes that member states must adhere to common democratic values to remain in good standing.

Magyar's government must now decide whether to repeal the controversial measures to unlock suspended EU funding.
