Skydiver rescued at Virginia Tech

The incident occurred before the university's annual spring football game at Lane Stadium, when strong wind gusts pushed the parachutist off their intended landing path.

Emergency responders from the Blacksburg Fire Department used specialized equipment to lower the skydiver to safety, a process that took nearly an hour.

Virginia Tech Athletics confirmed that the individual was treated by medical personnel on-site and is currently in stable condition.

The game was delayed while the rescue operation was completed, but the crowd erupted in cheers once the skydiver was safely on the ground.
