Ben Field's conviction quashed
Field was originally sentenced to a minimum of 36 years in 2019 after being found guilty of seducing and murdering the 69-year-old Farquhar in Buckinghamshire.
The appeal court's decision to overturn the conviction follows a review of the original trial's evidence and legal directions.
While Field's convictions for fraud and other offenses remain, the murder charge will now be subject to a new legal process.
The case has remained a source of public fascination due to the calculated nature of Field's actions and the tragic vulnerability of his victim.
