Eight Children Killed in Louisiana

The Shreveport community is in mourning after an adult male, identified as 31-year-old Army veteran Shamar Elkins, allegedly opened fire at two separate homes early Sunday morning.

Authorities confirmed that the eight deceased children included seven of the suspect's own children and a cousin.

Following the attack, Elkins reportedly carjacked a vehicle and led officers on a high-speed pursuit that ended in a fatal exchange of gunfire.

This tragedy is being cited as one of the deadliest mass shootings in the United States in over two years, prompting calls for national reflection on domestic violence and firearm access.
