Alexandre Ramagem detained by ICE
Alexandre Ramagem, the fugitive former intelligence chief of Brazil, has been detained by ICE agents in the United States.
Ramagem had fled his home country after being sentenced to 16 years in prison for his role in a coup plot involving former President Jair Bolsonaro.
A Brazilian senator is reportedly pleading for Ramagem to be granted political asylum in the US. The arrest ends a six-month manhunt that spanned two continents following the failed scheme to prevent President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva from taking office.
