UK-France small boats deal

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood finalized the massive funding package in Dunkirk, aimed at dismantling human smuggling networks.

The agreement will see the deployment of advanced surveillance technology and increased beach patrols to prevent small boats from launching.

However, humanitarian charities have warned that the deterrence policies are unlikely to work, as migrants are fleeing even greater risks in their home countries.

The deal also includes provisions for the deportation of failed asylum seekers back to nations including Afghanistan and Sudan.
