Trump Fires Seattle Prosecutor Hours After Swearing-In

President Donald Trump dismissed Roger Rogoff as the top federal prosecutor in Seattle on Wednesday, less than an hour after Rogoff was sworn in following a unanimous appointment by the district's federal judges.

The abrupt firing is the latest in a series of moves by the Trump administration to assert control over the Justice Department, and it raises questions about the limits of the president's removal power over court-appointed officials.

Rogoff, a former judge and veteran prosecutor, told the Associated Press he received the termination email shortly after the ceremony.

The incident is likely to face legal challenges.
