UPS plane crash hearings begin

The NTSB has opened two days of hearings to investigate why an engine flew off a UPS cargo plane mid-air, causing a crash that killed 15 people in Louisville.

Newly released surveillance video shows the engine engulfed in flames as it separated from the wing during takeoff.

Investigators are reviewing reports that a cracked wing mount had been flagged by maintenance crews just hours before the fatal flight.

The hearings will also examine whether Boeing and UPS failed to address underlying safety flaws that contributed to the disaster.
