Gunman kills six in Kyiv rampage

Ukrainian authorities are investigating a rare mass shooting in Kyiv as a potential act of terrorism after a gunman launched a violent attack in the Holosiivskyi district.

The assailant reportedly set his own apartment on fire before opening fire on civilians with an automatic weapon and barricading himself in a grocery store.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that tactical units eliminated the attacker after negotiations failed to secure the release of hostages.

While the suspect was a Ukrainian citizen born in Moscow, investigators are currently examining whether the attack was directed by Russian intelligence services.
