Pope Leo XIV visits Algeria

Pope Leo XIV visits Algeria

Pope Leo XIV has embarked on a historic 10-day tour of Africa, beginning with the first-ever papal visit to Algeria.

The trip is aimed at promoting Christian-Muslim coexistence and honoring the spiritual legacy of St. Augustine, who was born in the ancient Roman city of Hippo.

During his visit, the Pope has called on authorities to serve the people and decried the 'folly' of war, a message that has resonated amid his ongoing feud with President Donald Trump.

Despite two suicide attacks in the country during his stay, the Pope has continued his pilgrimage under tight security.

The visit is seen as a significant step in interfaith dialogue and a testament to the Pope's commitment to global peace.
