Cruise ship norovirus outbreak

Over 1,700 passengers and crew have been confined to the cruise ship Ambition in Bordeaux following a suspected norovirus outbreak.

French authorities ordered the lockdown after a 92-year-old passenger died and dozens of others reported symptoms.

Samples are currently being tested at a local hospital to confirm the cause of the illness.

While asymptomatic passengers may soon be allowed to depart, the incident has raised fresh concerns about hygiene protocols on international cruise liners.
