Lebanon ceasefire brings fragile calm

The U.S.-brokered 10-day ceasefire has provided a much-needed respite for Lebanon after weeks of intense bombardment.

Thousands of residents are defying Israeli warnings and returning to southern towns, only to find homes destroyed and infrastructure in ruins.

Despite the halt in major airstrikes, reports of Israeli artillery shelling continue to emerge from the border region.

The success of this temporary truce is seen as a critical prerequisite for broader negotiations between the United States and Iran to end the regional conflict.
