Massive anti-government protests in Serbia

Belgrade saw its largest anti-government demonstrations in years as nearly 200,000 people gathered to protest the administration of President Aleksandar Vucic.

The movement was triggered by a fatal roof collapse at a Novi Sad train station last year, which protesters blame on systemic negligence and corruption.

Clashes erupted between student-led groups and riot police as demonstrators demanded early elections and greater accountability.

The government has dismissed the protests as politically motivated, while the opposition vows to continue the struggle for democratic reforms.
