Jury discharged in Preston Davey trial

The high-profile trial of Jamie Varley and John McGowan-Fazackerley has been halted at Preston Crown Court.

The pair were in the process of adopting the infant when he was allegedly subjected to a 'sinister campaign' of abuse that resulted in his death.

Mr. Justice Turner informed the court that a new jury would be sworn in on Monday to restart the proceedings from the beginning.

The delay has added further emotional strain to a case that has already drawn significant national attention due to the nature of the allegations.
