UK Passes Lifetime Smoking Ban

UK Passes Lifetime Smoking Ban

In a historic move for public health, both the House of Commons and the House of Lords have settled on a final draft of legislation that effectively outlaws smoking for future generations.

The new law will make it illegal to sell tobacco products to anyone currently aged 17 or younger for the rest of their lives.

Health Secretary Wes Streeting hailed the decision as a vital step in reducing the long-term burden on the NHS. The bill also introduces strict new regulations on vaping and nicotine pouches to curb their appeal to children.
