Eight children killed in Louisiana shooting

The Shreveport community is in mourning after the deadliest mass shooting in the United States in over two years.

Shamar Elkins allegedly executed seven of his own children and a nephew, ranging in age from 3 to 11, following a dispute with his wife.

Authorities are investigating how Elkins, a convicted felon, obtained the assault-style weapon used in the attack.

Two women and a 13-year-old boy, who survived by jumping from a roof, remain hospitalized as the city processes the scale of the tragedy.
