Enbridge pipeline expansion approved

The Canadian government has approved Enbridge Inc.'s $4 billion Sunrise project to expand its natural gas pipeline system in British Columbia.

The expansion will increase capacity by 17% to meet growing demand and support energy exports to the United States and global markets.

Prime Minister Mark Carney stated the move demonstrates a greater sense of purpose in bolstering Canada's status as a global energy exporter.

The project involves 139 kilometers of new pipeline and is expected to create thousands of jobs during construction.
