Ireland Fuel Protests Escalate

Ireland is grappling with significant transport disruption as farmers and hauliers continue to protest soaring fuel prices.

Prime Minister Micheal Martin convened an emergency cabinet meeting to approve duty reductions and a delay in carbon tax increases.

While some blockades at major ports like Rosslare and Foynes have been stood down, others remain active as protesters label the government's offer 'insulting'.

The crisis has already led to fuel shortages at some pumps and the deferral of school exams.
