Higgins beats O'Sullivan in epic

The match, described as an all-time Crucible classic, saw Higgins win the final three frames to dump the seven-time champion out of the tournament.

O'Sullivan's quest for a record eighth world title ended in disappointment, with the snooker icon reportedly having already booked a flight home before the match concluded.

Higgins will now face China's Wu Yize in the next round as he bids for his fifth world crown.

Meanwhile, world number one Judd Trump also crashed out of the championship after a shock defeat to Iran's Hossein Vafaei.
