Hull Funeral Director Jailed for Corpse Scandal

Disgraced funeral director Robert Bush was sentenced to 20 years in prison for 67 offences, including preventing the lawful burial of bodies and fraud, after police discovered 17 putrefied bodies at his funeral home.

At least 46 families had been given the wrong ashes over a 12-year period, and Bush had charged for cremations that never took place.

The government announced it would regulate the funeral industry in England in direct response to the case.

The sentencing brought a close to one of the most shocking criminal episodes in the history of the British funeral sector.
