Record Heatwave Kills at Least 25 in US

A record-breaking heatwave has killed at least 25 people across the United States over the past week, with about 40 million people remaining under heat alerts.

Temperatures soared past 100 degrees Fahrenheit in more than 20 states, with Chicago alone reporting three heat-related deaths.

The extreme conditions have contributed to widespread power outages, flight disruptions, and health emergencies, while also fueling deadly storms and flash flooding in other regions.

The heat dome has been particularly devastating in New Jersey, where authorities say at least 19 deaths are blamed on the heat.
