Christine Fréchette to lead Quebec

In a decisive leadership vote, Christine Fréchette secured nearly 58% of the support from CAQ members to take over the reins of the party.

Fréchette, who will be Quebec's second-ever female premier, has promised a new style of leadership as the party faces a tough election challenge this fall.

Her predecessor, François Legault, urged unity during the party convention in Drummondville, reflecting on his 15-year career and the founding of the CAQ. The transition comes at a critical time for the province, with recent polls showing the governing party trailing behind its rivals.
