Ukrainian F-16 Shoots Down Russian Su-35

Ukraineโ€™s air force achieved its first-ever kill of a Russian Su-35 using a Western-supplied F-16, a major symbolic and tactical victory after two years of operating the jets primarily for air defense.

The engagement occurred amid a surge in cross-border strikes that killed four in Ukraine and four in Russia and Crimea.

Russia also revived a 28,000-tonne Cold War battlecruiser armed with hypersonic missiles, while President Vladimir Putin prepared to mobilize criminals to bolster frontline troops.

The escalation underscored the grinding intensity of the more than four-year war, with both sides targeting infrastructure and civilian areas.
