Ghana Repatriates Citizens from SA

Amid rising xenophobic tensions in South Africa, the Ghanaian government has evacuated nearly 300 of its nationals from Johannesburg.

The group, which included many undocumented individuals, chose to leave after being targeted in anti-immigrant demonstrations that have plagued the port city of Durban and other urban centers.

South African authorities have condemned the violence but face growing pressure to enforce stricter migration controls.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian officials say they are monitoring the situation closely and remain prepared to facilitate further repatriation flights for citizens who no longer feel safe.
