Orthodox Easter Ceasefire Falters

The temporary halt in hostilities was ordered by Vladimir Putin following a proposal from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

However, the Ukrainian military has already recorded nearly 500 violations, including strikes that resulted in civilian fatalities.

Both sides have accused each other of using the religious holiday as a cover for tactical repositioning.

Amid the ongoing violence, the two nations did manage to conduct a prisoner of war exchange, with 175 servicemen returned to each side in a mediation facilitated by the United Arab Emirates.
