United States President Donald Trump brokered a three-week extension of the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon during an Oval Office meeting with ambassadors from both nations.

The extension aims to provide a window for negotiating a long-term peace deal, though the situation remains precarious due to continued strikes in southern Lebanon.

Trump expressed optimism about a potential resolution while noting that he expects Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to visit Washington soon.

However, the absence of Hezbollah from these negotiations continues to cast a shadow over the durability of the truce.
