Wes Streeting warns striking doctors

As resident doctors return to work following a six-day strike, Wes Streeting has issued a stern message regarding the sustainability of NHS funding.

The Health Secretary argued that the BMA's demand for a 35% pay increase is unaffordable and would lead to a £30 billion annual burden on taxpayers if applied across all health unions.

Streeting emphasized that the money spent on managing the strikes could have been better used for implementing existing pay offers and improving patient care.

The government remains at an impasse with the union as waiting lists for hospital treatment continue to hit record highs.
