Patrick Muldoon dies at 57

Muldoon first gained fame as Austin Reed on the NBC soap opera 'Days of Our Lives' before starring as Richard Hart in the prime-time drama 'Melrose Place.' He also had a notable film career, including a lead role in the 1997 cult sci-fi hit 'Starship Troopers.' Friends and colleagues have paid tribute to his generosity and unmistakable presence in the Hollywood community.

His final public appearance was at an awards ceremony just six weeks prior to his death.
