Associated British Foods demerger

The demerger of Primark marks a major restructuring for the FTSE 100 conglomerate, which has owned the retailer for over sixty-five years.

AB Foods stated that the separation is intended to unlock shareholder value and allow each business to focus on its specific market challenges.

The decision comes as Primark faces increasing competition from online giants like Shein and Temu.

Both new entities are expected to be listed on the London Stock Exchange by the end of 2027.
