Noida labor protests turn violent

The agitation, which began over demands for higher minimum wages, saw over 40,000 workers take to the streets, disrupting traffic and commute for thousands.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed concern that the protests may have been hijacked by 'vested interests' seeking to destabilize the region.

In response to the unrest, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved a significant wage hike for all worker categories, implemented retrospectively from April 1.

Despite the concession, security remains tight as intelligence agencies probe reports of bot networks amplifying misinformation during the crisis.
