Asha Bhosle, one of the most versatile and celebrated voices in Indian cinema history, died on Sunday at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital.

Admitted earlier for a chest infection and respiratory issues, her condition deteriorated into multiple organ failure.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and numerous film industry figures have expressed profound grief, describing her as a cultural icon whose music defined generations.

Her last rites are scheduled to be performed with full state honors on Monday at Shivaji Park.
