Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons resigns

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin confirmed the departure, stating that Lyons plans to move to the private sector to spend more time with his family.

Lyons' resignation comes just hours after a public hearing addressed the lack of oversight in detention centers.

The administration has not yet named a permanent successor, though Lyons has agreed to stay through the end of May to assist with the transition.
