Assisted Dying Bill Set to Fail
The bill, which was supported by a majority of MPs, would have allowed terminally ill adults with less than six months to live to end their own lives.
Campaigners, including Dame Esther Rantzen, have condemned the failure, stating that it condemns generations of patients to 'die in agony.' Opponents of the bill argued that it lacked sufficient safeguards and could lead to the exploitation of vulnerable individuals.
While the current attempt has stalled, advocates have vowed to continue the fight in the next parliamentary session using rarely used mechanisms to force a vote.
