Platner Faces Sexual Assault Allegation

A woman accused Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner of sexually assaulting her in 2021, an allegation he denies.

The scandal has prompted prominent Democrats including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand to call for Platner to withdraw from the race.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee warned that all funding would be cut off if he remains in the race.

Platner said he is reassessing his campaign ahead of a July 13 deadline to replace him on the ballot.
